Techniques used in the sampling of amphibians and reptiles

Herpetofauna (amphibians and reptiles) are a diverse group of animals, each with specific behaviors and preferred habitats. Researchers trying to document the diversity of amphibians and reptiles must use a variety of techniques to capture and record the presence of these animals. Below is an aerial view of Ellenton Bay and the surrounding dry upland habitat. Click on an area of the image for a description of techniques used in that habitat or select a technique name from the list.
