Description: We are anticipating two 10-week positions to assist with Texas
horned lizard research this field season. One position will begin no
earlier than late March, the other will begin no later than mid-May. Start
and end dates are flexible. Applicants must provide their own vehicle.
Housing options are available.

Qualifications:

Applicants MUST:

- be willing to work long hours in hot, humid, sub-ideal conditions.
Typical field seasons will include weeks where you work more hours than you
are paid for. Weekend work and night work may also occur. We will try and
be as accommodating as possible.

- be comfortable working in conditions that may include encounters with
venomous reptiles.

- be comfortable working in conditions that virtually guarantee encounters
with biting and sucking insects.

- be able to interact with interested public user groups in a professional
manner.

- be able to work alone and as part of a team with minimal supervision.

- be able to follow strict data collection protocol.

- be willing to live under less than ideal circumstances (i.e., field
housing).

Ideal applicants (these are not requirements, the following skills can and
will be taught to interns during the field season, but if you have these you
will have an advantage in the hiring process):

- will have extensive experience capturing and handling live reptiles in a
field setting.

- will have experience working with radio transmitter equipment in the
field, as well as experience with handheld GPS units.

- will have experience working on and around US Department of Defense
facilities.

Location: Tinker AFB, Midwest City, OK

Salary: $8/hr, max 37.5 hrs/week

Start date: 3/31/2010 (flexible)
