
Master's Level Research Assistantship
Master's Level Research Assistantship available at the Cooperative
Wildlife
Research Laboratory, Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, IL.
This
assistantship will focus on the effects of pesticides on declining
amphibian
species in California. The thrust of the research will be on the effects
of
endosulfan and chlorpyrifos to the mountain yellow-legged frog and other
species in a laboratory context.
There may be some opportunity to do
limited
field work in California. Qualified candidates must have a bachelor's
degree in Zoology, Biology or related field; a 3.0 overall GPA or
higher;
and a combined analytical and verbal GRE score of at least 1100. Other
factors for consideration include a sincere concern for the conservation
of
amphibians; experience in maintaining anuran tadpoles in captivity; and
familiarity with basic concepts of contaminant ecology. Contact Dr. Don
