Resident Manager
The Ouachita Mountains Biological Station, Inc., has a full-time position available for a resident manager to live on-site at the biology station. The OMBS is open year-round.

The position includes a modest salary, a newly renovated residence with central AC/Heat, fireplace, and new appliances, all utilities, a monthly travel allowance, dial-up internet, and two weeks paid leave per year. The web site is http://www.lsus.edu/lsusmus/ombs.html.

The station is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes including:

Research: Promoting research, publication of studies, and education about the ecology, biota, and biodiversity of the Interior Highlands of Arkansas and Oklahoma, with particular emphasis on the Ouachita Mountains.

Education: Education and dissemination of information regarding the ecology, biota, and biodiversity of the Interior Highlands of Arkansas and Oklahoma, with particular emphasis on the Ouachita Mountains.

Public Outreach: The Station has served collegiate needs as a research and educational center since 1962. Outreach to the local community will improve as scientists learn more about the local biota.

The OMBS is a private field station with a Board of Governors and a Board of Advisors. The OMBS is funded by the Richard K. and Betty Speairs Charitable Foundation. The funding is perpetual but modest. Both the OMBS and the Foundation are 501(C)(3) organizations and the OMBS is a full member of the Organization of Biological Field Stations.
